We are excited to announce a new research training program for undergraduates, funded by the National Science Foundation, REU Site: Translational Research in Psychological Sciences: Human Factors at Texas Tech University. The program starts on June 5, 2017, and lasts for 8 weeks.

Paid Opportunities for Summer Research Training at Texas Tech University

In the summer of 2017, Texas Tech University will host a research program for undergraduates that is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). For details, see the REU website: http://www.myweb.ttu.edu/jiyang/HF-REU.htm

Costs that are covered by the NSF grant include student lodging, meals and travel.

Students also will receive $4000 for 8 weeks.

Undergraduates will work closely with a faculty member at Texas Tech University on behavioral research that has clear applications to real-world problems. Examples of topics include driving, human-robot interaction; surgery; enhancement of student learning; applications of neuroscience to baggage screening; substance use and misuse; health-based disparities; and reduction of injury during handling of patients. Training includes professional development seminars, graduate school preparation, and a special presentation by a successful alumnus now working in industry.

There is a voluntary research component to the training program that aims to evaluate whether the program was successful. The research is independent of the training program and it will be the student’s choice to participate in the research.

All students who are interested in research and who plan to go to graduate school are encouraged to apply. Females, underrepresented minorities, and first-generation college students are especially encouraged to apply.

Interested students should contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Patricia R. DeLucia, pat.delucia@ttu.edu or 806-834-0968

I am the Center Director of Mathnasium of Humble South.  Mathnasium of Humble South is a year round learning center in our community that provides supplementary math instruction for students in grades 2 to 12 in a positive and encouraging environment. We currently have part-time employee positions open for passionate and talented math instructors and wanted to reach out to the students in your department who may be interested in this opportunity.

A Mathnasium instructor position is an opportunity for students who wish to apply their math and teaching abilities to help children succeed. Curriculum and materials are predetermined for each student based on the student’s strengths and problem areas. Applicants must have exceptional math skills through Algebra 1 and Geometry and be positive, energetic, motivating, and able to communicate professionally with parents and students of all ages.

Mathnasium instructors typically work between 8 and 20 hours per week. We offer a flexible work schedule (afternoons/evenings and weekends) and can accommodate students’ academic and other professional commitments.

If you have any further questions or need more information about the instructor position or Mathnasium in general, please don’t hesitate to contact me at humblesouth@mathnasium.com.
I am attaching some information that you can pass on as well.

Thank you for your help,
